Being named Principal of the new Gene and Ruby Nichols Elementary is truly one the most exciting events in my life. I am so honored to be chosen to lead a school for this amazing school district and community. Adding to the excitement is the opportunity to watch the construction of the building and being given the opportunity to be part of what will become such an impactful role in so many students’ lives. I was able to take my first hard hat walk through on Monday, March 19 and was overwhelmed with the anticipation of meeting the future Nichols Elementary students and their families. I also was honored to meet the Nichols family recently and although Gene and Ruby have passed away, their sense of humor and love for Frisco are clearly evident in their three children.
I have not only spent my entire education career in Frisco ISD, I even did my student teaching at Christie Elementary and Borchardt Elementary during its inaugural year. I realized early on how special Frisco ISD is and feel very fortunate to part of such a talented and caring group of educators.
In college, I took a part-time job as a nanny and discovered my passion for working with children. As a result of this experience I changed my major, and in May 2002 received my Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of North Texas.
While finishing my student teaching, I was privileged to interview at Borchardt Elementary, and I was hired to teach 5th grade Math and Science. While teaching at Borchardt, I received my Principal’s Certification from Texas A&M-Commerce in May 2006.
In 2006, I was hired to serve at Bert and Eloise Isbell Elementary as Assistant Principal. It was hard to leave my classroom, but I was very excited to take on my new role as Assistant Principal and the opportunity to impact the entire student body as an administrator. After serving three years as Isbell’s Assistant Principal, I was asked to serve as Ruth Borchardt Elementary’s Assistant Principal. I served the Borchardt Family for two years before I was asked to serve as Calvin Bledsoe Elementary’s Assistant Principal. My time serving with Mrs. Woodson and the Bledsoe community has been magical.
As for my family life, my husband, Neil, and I have been married for 9 years. Our two children, Olivia, 4 and Max, 20 months are the center of our universe. Olivia is her father’s mirror image and our sweet Max thinks his big sister is the best!
